The Winds were thrilled to have a packed, enthusiastic house for the November concert at First United Methodist Church in Yuba City! The concert, featuring Wine-Dark Sea by John Mackey, was a challenging and thoroughly exciting experience for the musicians of the ensemble. Did you miss it? We will reprise the performance at our Sierra College Concert April 28, 2018. Join us!
Here are conductor Robert Halseth’s comments following the concert:
I am very proud of my adult band, the Sierra Nevada Winds, for their powerful and poignant performance of John Mackey’s extraordinary Symphony for Band, Wine-Dark Sea, last night at our annual fall concert in Yuba City. It took great effort from all 58 of us to do justice to John’s superb writing, and I know that because of that, we gave life to the piece. More importantly, this outstanding piece gave great life to us. Thank you, John. And thank you, Winds!
