Dr. Robert Halseth, Conducting
Saturday, April 30, 7:30 pm
This concert is dedicated to our friend and fellow musician, Sidney F. McCammond, 1950-2011
The Sierra Nevada Winds Orchestra presents a program of American contemporary and classical wind ensemble music. Highlights include Bernstein’s rhythmical “Symphonic Dances from West Side Story” and Giroux’s “Vigils Keep,” a musical picture of the South. “Pastime,” Jack Stamp’s salute to baseball, the hauntingly beautiful “O Magnum Mysterium” by Morten Lauridsen, and “October,” Eric Whitacre’s lyrical composition, round out this entertaining program.
